Ranit Kr. Singh , Bhopal - A 17-year-old girl was brutally attacked and left in critical condition on Friday in Madhya Pradesh's Shivpuri district after she allegedly rejected a marriage proposal from a persistent stalker. The prime suspect, identified as 22-year-old Dharmendra Parihar, reportedly forced his way into the teenager's home when she was alone, attacking her with an axe before attempting to hang her from the rooftop with a scarf. The victim suffered deep head and neck injuries, requiring 60 stitches, and remains under intensive medical treatment at a hospital in Gwalior.
Local police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against five individuals, charging them with attempt to murder, house trespassing, and causing grievous hurt. Prompt law enforcement action led to the immediate arrest of the main accused, Dharmendra Parihar, alongside his father, Ajab Singh Parihar. Meanwhile, police have launched a manhunt to track down and apprehend three other suspects who remain at large and are currently absconding.
According to Sub-Divisional Officer of Police Prashant Sharma, the accused had been harassing and stalking the minor for a prolonged period, constantly pressuring her to marry him. The brutal assault escalated to the rooftop as the victim tried to escape, an ordeal captured in a distressing video that was widely circulated on social media on Saturday. Investigators are currently conducting a thorough interrogation of the primary suspect to gather further evidence as the investigation continues.
