Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking a financial relief package for exporters hit by the recent increase in tariffs imposed by the United States.

In his letter, Stalin highlighted that many exporters, particularly small and medium enterprises, are struggling to cope with rising costs and reduced competitiveness in international markets. He noted that the textile and leather industries, which employ a large workforce in Tamil Nadu, are among the worst affected.

Stalin urged the Centre to consider steps such as subsidies, tax relief, or financial incentives to help exporters offset losses and retain their presence in global trade. He added that timely intervention would not only protect businesses but also safeguard the livelihoods of thousands of workers.

The Chief Minister stressed that India’s export sector plays a vital role in economic growth and foreign exchange earnings, and it is essential to shield it from global disruptions.
