News Desk - The family of Siya Goyal, accused in the Lohagad Fort murder case of Pune businessman Ketan Agarwal, has broken its silence, saying that the law should take its course and the guilty should be punished, even if the accused turns out to be their own daughter. Siya’s mother described Ketan as “a very good boy,” while her father said whoever is responsible should face the harshest punishment.
In emotional statements reported from hospital and home, Siya’s parents said they were shocked by the allegations and claimed they had not seen any signs that she was unhappy with the engagement or marriage arrangement. Her father said that if investigators prove she was involved, she should face the strictest punishment, with one report quoting him as saying she should be “pushed from the same cliff” if found guilty. The remarks come as the murder investigation continues to intensify after police arrested Siya and her alleged lover Chetan Chaudhary in connection with Ketan’s death at Lohagad Fort.
Police believe Ketan, a 26 year old realtor and director in his family’s real-estate business, was pushed into a gorge near Lohagad Fort on June 18 after what initially appeared to be an accidental fall during a trek. Investigators have said the incident may have been a planned killing, with allegations that Siya and Chetan conspired to eliminate him because she did not want to marry Ketan and was in a relationship with Chetan instead. The victim’s family has demanded a fast-track trial and the death penalty for those found responsible, while also alleging that Siya’s family may have known about the conspiracy earlier.
The case has now turned into a high-profile murder investigation with competing claims from both sides and mounting public attention. With Siya’s family publicly backing strict punishment if she is proven guilty, the focus remains on the police probe and the court process that will determine responsibility.
