Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Wednesday visited Punjab to assess the situation caused by recent floods. He held meetings with state officials and local representatives to review the extent of damage to crops and villages.

During the visit, Chouhan interacted with farmers affected by the floods and assured them of support from the Centre. He said that the government is working on measures to provide relief and compensation to those who have suffered losses.

Officials briefed the minister on the damage to farmlands, standing crops, and infrastructure in the affected districts. Chouhan also directed authorities to ensure timely assistance to farmers so that agricultural activities can resume without long delays.

The minister noted that Punjab is a key contributor to the country’s food security and stressed that every effort will be made to help farmers recover from the crisis.
