Muzaffarnagar, August 23 — A sharpshooter associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang was arrested by the Special Task Force (STF) following an encounter late Thursday night in Muzaffarnagar.
Police officials said the accused opened fire on the STF team during the operation, prompting retaliation. He sustained injuries and was later taken into custody. A pistol and several cartridges were recovered from the spot.
According to investigators, the arrested man was wanted in multiple cases of extortion and violence across Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. Authorities believe he was active in executing gang operations in western UP.
The STF stated that increased surveillance and intelligence inputs had led to the arrest. Security has been stepped up in sensitive areas to prevent any retaliatory activity by the gang.
