SEBI Accuses Rajesh Exports of Inflating Revenue by ₹15.15 Lakh Crore

Shivani  Jaiswal, Mumbai-

India's market regulator, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), has accused Rajesh Exports of significantly overstating its revenue figures, alleging inflation amounting to ₹15.15 lakh crore over multiple financial years.

According to SEBI's findings, the company allegedly reported transactions that lacked sufficient economic substance, leading to an artificial increase in reported turnover. The regulator has raised concerns about the accuracy of financial disclosures and their impact on investors and market transparency.

The allegations emerged following a detailed examination of the company's books and trading activities. SEBI stated that certain transactions appeared to have been structured in a manner that inflated revenue without generating corresponding business value.

Rajesh Exports has denied any wrongdoing and said it would cooperate with regulatory authorities while reviewing the observations made in the order. The company maintains that its accounting practices complied with applicable regulations and industry standards.

The case has drawn significant attention from investors and market participants due to the scale of the alleged revenue inflation. Analysts noted that the outcome of the proceedings could have broader implications for corporate governance and financial reporting standards in India's listed companies.

SEBI is expected to continue its investigation and may take further regulatory action based on the evidence gathered. The matter remains under review, and final conclusions will depend on the completion of the legal and regulatory process.

The development has once again highlighted the importance of accurate financial disclosures in maintaining investor confidence and ensuring the integrity of capital markets.
