Ananya Lohia , New Delhi - Indian boxer Sakshi Choudhary won the gold medal in the women's 51kg category at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, defeating England's Ruby White by a unanimous 5-0 decision. Her victory was one of seven boxing gold medals that helped India climb to fourth place in the medal standings.

Sakshi dominated the final from start to finish, producing a disciplined performance with strong defence and accurate counter-attacks. Her journey to the Commonwealth Games gold was remarkable, as she dropped to a lower weight category and defeated top Indian boxers, including double world champion Nikhat Zareen, during the national trials to secure her place in the team.

After her victory, Sakshi dedicated the medal to the nation and thanked her family, coaches and supporters for standing by her throughout her journey. Her parents expressed pride in her achievement, saying they believe she can continue her success at the Asian Games and the Olympics.
