New Delhi, August 23 — Cheteshwar Pujara, India’s batting mainstay in Test cricket for over a decade, bid farewell to international cricket on Friday, drawing an outpouring of tributes from cricketing legends and fans alike. Known for his resilience and marathon innings, Pujara announced his retirement after a distinguished career that earned him the title of India’s “marathon man.”
Former India captain Sachin Tendulkar praised Pujara’s dedication, saying his career symbolized discipline and determination. “Pujara’s contribution to Indian cricket goes beyond runs. He showed the value of patience and grit, proving that perseverance is as important as flair,” Tendulkar wrote.
Sunil Gavaskar, another batting great, lauded Pujara’s ability to withstand pressure in challenging overseas conditions. “He carried the weight of the team on many occasions.
