Ananya Lohia , Mumbai - Actor Rupali Ganguly has strongly reacted to YouTuber Dhruv Rathee after his controversial remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi went viral on social media. Rupali defended the Prime Minister, saying millions of Indians love and trust him and do not need “a YouTuber sitting abroad” to lecture them about the country.
The controversy began after Dhruv Rathee posted on X that PM Modi “deserves to be humiliated everywhere he goes” and criticised him for not holding a press conference in the last 12 years. Rathee further urged foreign journalists to question the Prime Minister during international visits, claiming it would help improve transparency and accountability. Reacting to the post, Rupali Ganguly strongly disagreed with the YouTuber’s comments. Quoting his post on X, she wrote that it was “funny” to hear the word “humiliation” being used for a leader who continues to receive top civilian honours from countries around the world. She called PM Modi one of the most respected global leaders and highlighted his long electoral success as both Chief Minister and Prime Minister.
The actor also said that over 1.4 billion Indians are capable of deciding what is good for the country and do not need someone “disconnected from India’s ground reality” to act as their spokesperson. She further accused Rathee of building his online career around mocking and criticising India. Meanwhile, PM Modi recently concluded his Italy visit during the final leg of his five-nation tour. The Prime Minister described the trip as “very productive” and announced that India and Italy had decided to elevate bilateral ties to a Special Strategic Partnership following discussions with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
The exchange between Dhruv Rathee and Rupali Ganguly has triggered fresh political debate online, with social media divided over criticism of political leaders and freedom of expression. The controversy continues to generate strong reactions from both supporters and critics of PM Modi.
