Ananya Lohia , New Delhi - A 70-year-old woman, wife of a retired Army captain, was found dead on a rooftop in Haryana's Panchkula, with police suspecting the family's maid of involvement in the murder.
The victim, Neera Mehta, had reportedly gone to question the maid after suspecting her of stealing jewellery from the house. When she failed to return, her husband, retired Army captain Manmohan Mehta, filed a missing complaint with the police.
During the search, police entered the maid's locked residence and recovered Neera's body from the rooftop, where it had allegedly been concealed behind large floor tiles. A murder case has been registered, and the maid is suspected to be involved.
Police are awaiting the post-mortem report to determine the exact cause of death while continuing their investigation to trace the accused and uncover the full circumstances of the crime.
