Desk Correspondent , New Delhi - Former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and now BJP Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha on Tuesday claimed he would be the "next target" of political vendetta by his erstwhile party, alleging misuse of Punjab government machinery against MPs who recently switched allegiance to the BJP. Chadha made the assertion while addressing the media alongside fellow defectors Sandeep Pathak and Ashok Mittal after meeting President Droupadi Murmu to flag concerns over targeted actions.

Chadha, who along with six other Rajya Sabha MPs quit AAP last month and merged with the BJP—crossing the two-thirds threshold to avoid anti-defection disqualification—accused the Punjab government of hiring agencies to threaten them on social media and orchestrating vendetta politics. The trio met the President at 10:40 am to apprise her of the alleged misuse of state agencies for political targeting following their departure from AAP. This comes amid reports of FIRs and other actions against the defecting MPs, which Chadha described as a clear case of harassment.

The development marks a significant blow to AAP, especially in Punjab where the party holds power. Chadha, once a prominent face in the party he claimed to have "nurtured with blood and sweat," criticised AAP's shift from its anti-corruption roots. President Murmu granted the meeting following Chadha's request to highlight these issues. The MPs' switch has strengthened BJP's position in the Rajya Sabha. Political observers see this as escalating tensions between the parties ahead of future elections, with AAP likely to challenge the mergers legally.
