Shivani Jaiswal, New Delhi- A terrorist linked to the 2019 Pulwama attack, Hamza Burhan, has reportedly been killed in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) in what appears to be a targeted shooting incident. The episode took place in Muzaffarabad, where unidentified attackers are said to have opened fire on him, leading to his death on the spot or shortly after, according to early inputs shared by media reports.

Burhan, also known by the name Arjumand Gulzar Dar, was believed to be associated with extremist networks operating across the border and was on the radar of security agencies for his alleged involvement in planning and supporting terror activities in Jammu and Kashmir. Intelligence inputs had earlier flagged his role in recruitment and coordination within the group linked to the Pulwama attack that killed 40 CRPF personnel in 2019.

Local reports suggest the assailants managed to escape after the attack, and no group has so far claimed responsibility. Authorities in the region have remained cautious in confirming details, and investigations are expected to focus on identifying those behind the shooting.

The killing has once again brought attention to internal rivalries and instability within terror networks operating in PoK. Security experts believe such incidents often reflect power struggles or targeted eliminations within these groups.

Indian security agencies are expected to closely monitor developments, although there has been no official confirmation regarding Burhan’s death from Indian authorities yet.
