Preventing paper leaks a national responsibility: PM Modi on NEET row

Swapna Kumbar, Bengaluru - Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that preventing paper leaks is a national responsibility, as the government faces renewed scrutiny over the NEET controversy. According to Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, the Prime Minister made the remark while stressing the need for a foolproof examination system to protect students’ futures.

Rijiju said Modi urged all stakeholders to work together to build a stronger and more secure exam process, so that competitive examinations are not compromised by leaks or malpractice. The Prime Minister reportedly described the issue as a serious one and called for the toughest possible action against those responsible. He also said the government acted quickly after the leak surfaced, with arrests made and a re-examination conducted without delay. The message, Rijiju said, was that the Centre is committed to safeguarding the interests of young aspirants and will not tolerate attempts to damage the credibility of the system.

Modi’s remarks show the government is treating exam leaks as both a law-and-order issue and a matter of public trust. By framing it as a national responsibility, he is pushing for a tighter, more reliable testing system that protects students and restores confidence.
