PM Modi to Launch Rs 47,600-Crore Odisha Projects, Lead Yoga Day Event in Kolkata

Ananya Lohia , Kolkata - Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a two-day visit to West Bengal and Odisha on June 20 and 21, unveiling major development projects, releasing the latest PM-KISAN instalment, leading International Yoga Day celebrations in Kolkata, and launching infrastructure initiatives worth over ₹47,600 crore in Odisha.

The Prime Minister's visit will begin in Tarakeswar, Hooghly, where he will participate in Paschimbanga Divas celebrations and inaugurate or lay foundation stones for projects linked to railways, agriculture, fisheries, rural development and animal husbandry. A key highlight will be the release of the 23rd instalment of the PM-KISAN scheme, under which more than ₹18,880 crore will be directly transferred to over 9.44 crore farmers across the country. West Bengal alone is set to receive more than ₹900 crore, benefiting over 45 lakh farmers. The Centre will roll out several agricultural initiatives in the state, including the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, Agri Stack under the Digital Agriculture Mission and many more.

The Prime Minister will also inaugurate key projects such as the upgraded fishing harbour at Fraserganj, a modern fish market in Birbhum's Sainthia and a regional semen production laboratory and goat semen bank in Nadia's Haringhata. On Sunday, Modi will lead the 12th International Yoga Day celebrations in Kolkata, themed "Yoga for Healthy Ageing", before commissioning three indigenously built naval vessels — INS Dunagiri, INS Sanshodhak and INS Agray — at Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port. The Odisha leg of the visit will see Modi join President Droupadi Murmu in Mayurbhanj district. During the event, Modi will inaugurate and lay foundation stones for development projects worth more than ₹47,600 crore across sectors.

Blending welfare outreach, infrastructure expansion, cultural engagement and strategic defence initiatives, Prime Minister Modi's two-day visit to West Bengal and Odisha is expected to deliver major development announcements while reinforcing the Centre's focus on agriculture, connectivity, national security and economic growth.
