Desk Correspondent , New Delhi - Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday strongly condemned the drone attack on the UAE that injured three Indian nationals in Fujairah, expressing Indian's firm solidarity with the Gulf nation. In a post on X, Modi described the targeting of civilians and infrastructure as unacceptable and called for peaceful resolution of issues through dialogue and called for peaceful resolution of the issues through dialogue and diplomacy. The statement came a day after the incident at a major oil industry zone in Fujairah, amid heighted tensions in the region. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) echoed this stance, terming the attack "unacceptable" and urging an immediate end to hostilities targeting civilians.

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal emphasized India's commitment to dialogue for restoring peace and stability West Asia. He reiterated the call for free and unimpeded navigation and commerce though the Strait of Hormuz in the line with international law. PM Modi highlighted that ensuring safe passage through this critical waterway in vital for regional peace, stability, and global energy security, as it handles a significant portion of the world's oil and gas supplies. The UAE's defence ministry reported engaging multiple missiles and drones launched from Iran, underscoring the severity of the threats. 

The Fujairah incident occurred as a fragile US-Iran ceasefire faced fresh strains following earlier US-Israeli strikes. Iran has been retaliating, disrupting shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. India, with deep ties to the UAE and interests in regional stability, stands ready to support efforts for a peaceful resolution. The government is monitoring the situation closely while prioritizing the safety of its citizens abroad. This episode highlights the fragile geopolitics of West Asia and the importance of de-escalation to prevent broader disruptions to energy markets and international trade.
