Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep sorrow over the incident. In his message, he said, “The unfortunate incident during a political rally in Karur, Tamil Nadu, is extremely distressing. My heartfelt condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones. I pray for the speedy recovery of all those who have been injured.”
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also conveyed his condolences and wrote, “Deeply pained by the loss of lives in the stampede in Tamil Nadu’s Karur district. My sincere condolences to the bereaved families. May the Almighty give them strength to bear this irreparable loss and may the injured recover at the earliest.” Defence Minister Rajnath Singh described the tragedy as “deeply painful,” saying, “The loss of innocent lives is heartbreaking. My heartfelt sympathies go out to the grieving families, and I pray for the speedy recovery of those injured.”
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the stampede, which occurred when a massive crowd gathered at the venue. Nearby hospitals are treating the injured, and additional emergency measures have been taken to manage the situation. This tragic incident has shocked the state, prompting leaders across the country to call for stricter crowd management and safety measures during large public gatherings.
