Ananya Lohia , Mumbai - Ram Charan’s much-awaited sports drama Peddi continues its impressive run at the box office, crossing the ₹150 crore mark worldwide within just two days of release. Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, the film opened to positive reviews and registered the biggest solo opening of Ram Charan’s career.
The film earned ₹18.50 crore through paid previews on Wednesday and added a massive ₹51 crore on its official release day, taking its opening tally to ₹69.50 crore. Although collections witnessed an expected decline on Friday due to the weekday factor, Peddi still managed to collect ₹26 crore net across India, pushing its domestic total to ₹96.40 crore net (₹114.50 crore gross). Internationally, the film has emerged as a major success, grossing over $4 million overseas. With strong overseas performance and robust domestic collections, Peddi has now crossed ₹150 crore gross worldwide and is set to enter the ₹100 crore club in India within its third day. The film's biggest strength has been its dominance in the Telugu market, which has contributed more than ₹90 crore of its India earnings.
Interestingly, online criticism regarding the portrayal and objectification of Janhvi Kapoor’s character has had little impact on the film’s commercial performance. Positive word of mouth and Ram Charan’s star power continue to drive audiences to theatres. Produced by Venkata Satish Kilaru under Vriddhi Cinemas and presented by Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar Writings, Peddi features Ram Charan in the lead role alongside Shiva Rajkumar, Janhvi Kapoor, Jagapathi Babu, Divyenndu, and Boman Irani.
With ₹150 crore already in its kitty worldwide and strong weekend momentum ahead, Peddi is on track to surpass the lifetime collections of Ram Charan’s previous release Game Changer. If the current trend continues, the sports drama could comfortably cross the ₹250 crore mark in the coming days, further cementing its position as one of the biggest Telugu hits of the year.
