Ananya Lohia , New Delhi - Parliament remained deadlocked for the fifth consecutive day on Friday as Opposition MPs intensified protests, demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the alleged paper leak controversy.
Protesting lawmakers displayed placards inside the Lok Sabha, forcing repeated disruptions and the adjournment of proceedings until Monday without any legislative business. Outside Parliament, both the BJP-led NDA and the Opposition staged demonstrations. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju urged the Opposition to allow a discussion, saying the government was ready for a debate of any duration.
The Opposition, however, insisted that Pradhan resign before any discussion could take place. Congress leaders also demanded action against those responsible for violence during student protests and an apology from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In the Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge and other Opposition leaders accused the government of avoiding accountability, while Priyanka Gandhi Vadra questioned the Prime Minister's absence from Parliament amid the ongoing crisis.
With both sides refusing to back down, the paper leak controversy continues to disrupt Parliament, keeping the political standoff firmly in focus.
Mukesh Khanna’s call to replace “Jana Gana Mana” with “Vande Mataram” has sparked debate over India’s national symbols and the history behind them.
PM Modi warned against what he called “dimaagi Naxals,” urging their identification and isolation, while the Congress criticised the remarks as politically motivated.
