News Desk - The Palestinian Embassy in India has appealed to New Delhi for urgent medical aid, saying the healthcare system in Gaza and the occupied West Bank is close to collapse amid the ongoing conflict. The embassy urged India to respond under its Aarogya Maitri initiative, which is meant to provide essential medical supplies in humanitarian crises.

Palestinian Ambassador Abdullah M. Abu Shawesh said the medical situation has become catastrophic, with hospitals facing severe shortages of life-saving medicines and supplies. According to reports, he called on India and the wider international community to act immediately, arguing that the health system can no longer cope with the scale of the emergency.

The appeal specifically referenced India’s Aarogya Maitri initiative, which the envoy described as a fitting framework for sending urgent assistance to Palestinians. He said the request was aimed at securing medical support worth about $100 million, including essential medicines and other critical supplies.

The embassy’s message also stressed the humanitarian nature of the request, framing it as a response to the worsening public health crisis in Gaza and the West Bank. Reporting from India said the envoy delivered the appeal to the Indian government and the external affairs ministry, though no official response had been reported at the time of publication.
