Pakistani security forces face BLA’s claims of attacks across Balochistan

Swapna Kumbar , Bengaluru - The Baloch Liberation Army has claimed it carried out 48 attacks across Balochistan over a 15-day period, saying more than 40 Pakistani security personnel were killed and several others injured. The group said the operations targeted military convoys, checkpoints, bridges and supply routes.

The claims point to a sustained escalation in the insurgency in Pakistan’s southwest, where the BLA has repeatedly targeted security forces and infrastructure. By naming convoys and supply lines, the group appears to be focusing on disrupting mobility and military logistics across the province.

If accurate, the reported attacks would indicate that Pakistani forces are facing coordinated pressure on multiple fronts rather than isolated incidents. Such a pattern can stretch security resources, complicate movement between districts, and raise the risk of further retaliation.

The BLA has long framed its attacks as part of a broader campaign against what it calls exploitation of Balochistan’s resources. Pakistani authorities, meanwhile, typically describe the group as a separatist militant organization and respond with counteroperations.

The latest claims suggest that Balochistan remains one of Pakistan’s most volatile security fronts. Even without independent verification of every attack, the scale described by the BLA points to a serious and persistent insurgency challenge.
