In a preemptive security move, Pakistan’s authorities have suspended mobile internet and telecom services in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, and sealed entry and exit routes to the capital, ahead of a planned protest by the hardline religious group Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP).

The disruption was ordered by interior ministry officials and executed via the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), under the authorization of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.  The TLP’s planned “Labbaik Ya Aqsa Million March” is scheduled to be held on Friday, targeting the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad in support of Palestine.
