Over 118 Police Personnel Injured in CJP Protest Violence

Ananya Lohia , New Delhi - More than 118 personnel from the Delhi Police and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), including several senior officers, were injured during the violent clashes that erupted during the Cockroach Janata Party's (CJP) march to Parliament on Monday.

According to Delhi Police, the injured included officers of the rank of Special Commissioner, Joint Commissioner, Additional Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner who were deployed to oversee security arrangements. The violence broke out after protesters attempted to breach barricades and march towards Parliament, prompting clashes with security personnel. Police said prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) had been imposed before the protest.

Delhi Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar visited the injured personnel at the hospital and praised their dedication, saying, "Every injury on the uniform bears witness to dedication to duty." Meanwhile, the CJP alleged that several students were also seriously injured during the police action, while authorities said the incidents of violence would be thoroughly investigated.

With both police and protesters reporting injuries, the aftermath of Monday's clashes has intensified the debate over the handling of the Parliament march and the ongoing agitation over alleged examination irregularities.
