Ananya Lohia , New Delhi - The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced that the 2027 World Test Championship (WTC) final will be played at The Oval in London from June 9 to 13, marking the fourth consecutive WTC final to be hosted in England.

The Oval previously hosted the 2023 WTC final, where Australia defeated India to lift the title. The inaugural final in 2021 was held in Southampton, with New Zealand beating India, while Lord's hosted the 2025 final, where South Africa defeated Australia. The ICC has also awarded England the hosting rights for the WTC finals in 2029 and 2031.

The ongoing WTC cycle remains closely contested, with Australia leading the standings, followed by defending champions South Africa and New Zealand. India, currently fifth in the table, will look to improve their position during the upcoming two-Test series against Sri Lanka, while several other teams continue their push for a place in the 2027 final.

With less than a year remaining in the current WTC cycle, the race for a place in the 2027 final at The Oval is set to intensify.
