Ananya Lohia , New Delhi - Oscar-winning Irish musician and actor Glen Hansard has died in a motorcycle accident in Dublin at the age of 56. The singer-songwriter, best known for winning an Academy Award for Falling Slowly, passed away after a single-vehicle crash in the early hours of Wednesday.

The accident occurred on Lower Road in Lucan, west of Dublin, and was reported to emergency services shortly before 4:30 am local time. Authorities have launched an investigation into the single-vehicle crash and appealed for witnesses to come forward. Hansard rose to fame as the lead singer of The Frames and starred in The Commitments.

He won the 2008 Academy Award for Best Original Song for Falling Slowly from the film Once. Irish leaders, including Taoiseach Micheál Martin and former President Michael D.
