Desk Correspondent , Srinagar - Home Minister Amit Shah and Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah led the nation in paying solemn tributes to the victims of terror attack in Pahalgam on 22 April, 2026, emphasizing an unwavering stance against terrorism. Addressing the media and security officials, the leaders collectively asserted that the perpetrators of such heinous acts would not succeed in destabilizing the region’s peace. The Home Minister reaffirmed the central government's commitment to a "zero-tolerance" policy toward terrorism, while the Chief Minister called for a unified front among all political and social factions to safeguard the lives of innocent civilians and tourists.
The tribute ceremony underscored the gravity of the security situation following the strike on a tourist hotspot, which has drawn international condemnation. Security agencies have since intensified "cordon and search" operations across the valley to track down those responsible for the ambush. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah posted on his "X" handle calling the act of violence to be "cowardly." He further adds by writing "We also remain in eternal solidarity with the families who lost their loved ones a year ago in that cowardly attack. May the souls of the victims of the terror attack rest in peace."
Chief Minister Abdullah stressed that the progress achieved in Jammu and Kashmir must be protected through collective vigilance and social harmony. He noted that such attacks are desperate attempts by elements across the border to disrupt the growing economic stability and the booming tourism sector. Simultaneously, Amit Shah reiterated that the internal security framework is being further strengthened with advanced surveillance technology to prevent future infiltrations. "We will not forget. We will not forgive. This is our solemn vow. India stands unified against terrorism. We pledge unwavering commitment and resolute determination to eradicate terrorism from the soil of Jammu Kashmir," Sinha further adds. The government maintains that the path to development remains unhindered, and the synergy between the state and central forces will ensure that the region remains a safe haven for all.
