A devastating accident occurred late Tuesday night on the Jaipur–Ajmer Highway near Maukhampura in Dudu, Rajasthan, resulting in the death of one person and extensive damage to multiple vehicles. A chemical tanker collided with a stationary LPG truck, leading to a series of explosions that scattered debris up to 500 meters away.
According to police reports, the tanker driver lost control after spotting an RTO vehicle and swerved to avoid it, crashing into the parked LPG truck. The impact ignited the tanker’s cabin, and the flames quickly spread to the LPG cylinders. Nearly 200 cylinders exploded in succession, causing a massive fireball. The explosions were so intense that the sound could be heard up to ten kilometers away, and the blasts continued for nearly two hours before firefighters managed to bring the inferno under control after a three-hour operation. Around 12 fire tenders were deployed at the scene.
Tragically, the driver of the chemical tanker was burnt alive in the blaze. The LPG truck driver, identified as Shahrukh, narrowly escaped death. He reported that the tanker driver attempted to flee but was trapped by the rapidly spreading flames. The LPG truck was carrying approximately 330 cylinders, and the fire also engulfed five other vehicles parked nearby.
