Desk Correspondent , Lucknow - Noida factory workers in Phase-2, Sector-60 and 62 areas turned violent on Monday, April 13 during a protest. Police vehicles and government vehicles were arsoned after police lathi charged and a female employee was injured. Heavy police deployment has been made to control the situation, with traffic disruptions at the Delhi-Noida boarder.
Thousands of factory workers mainly from industrial units including Hosiery Complexes in Gautam Buddha Nagar district, Uttar Pradesh. Workers demand a wage hike in accordance with the labour law of India. The government had promised a ₹20,000 salary increase but failed to implement it. A female protester told PTI, "The government had promised to increase our salary by ₹20,000. Why isn't the government increasing our [salary]? Why are the policemen beating girls with sticks?" Police applied minimum force and appealed against rumours, while Delhi Police heightened alert at border points to prevent spillover. Senior officers monitored the ground situation.
Authorities counselled workers and assured restoration of normalcy, with continuous surveillance in place. The incident highlights ongoing labour tensions over pay disparities in Noida's industrial zones. Police are trying to maintain law and order with heavy deployment across affected areas. The violence caused severe inconvenience but was contained swiftly without broader escalation.
