Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has emphasized the importance of managing the “3Fs”—Food, Fuel, and Fertilizer—while addressing concerns related to rising fuel prices and ongoing global economic uncertainties.
Speaking on the broader economic situation, she underlined that these three sectors remain critical for maintaining price stability and ensuring that inflation does not heavily impact common households. According to her remarks, global disruptions in energy markets, supply chains, and geopolitical tensions continue to influence domestic price trends, making policy coordination in these areas essential.
She noted that fuel prices have a direct impact on transportation and production costs, which in turn affect the overall cost of essential goods. Similarly, food and fertilizer availability plays a crucial role in safeguarding agricultural output and supporting farmers, especially during periods of global volatility.
The Finance Minister highlighted that the government is closely monitoring supply conditions and taking steps to ensure adequate availability of essential commodities. She also pointed out that fiscal and policy measures are being aligned to reduce pressure on consumers while maintaining economic stability.
Experts say the “3Fs” framework reflects India’s ongoing focus on balancing growth with inflation control, particularly in a global environment marked by uncertainty in energy markets and food supply chains.
