The two owners of the Goa nightclub where a terrible fire killed 25 people have made a shocking claim in court. Gaurav and Saurabh Luthra told a Delhi court they are afraid of being violently attacked if they return to Goa. They claimed they would be "lynched" by the angry public due to the huge tragedy at their club, Birch by Romeo Lane. This incident, reportedly started by a dangerous fireworks show, has caused huge public anger and a national scandal.

The Luthra brothers quickly ran away to Thailand just hours after the massive fire. They asked the Delhi court for a special protection, or 'transit bail,' so they could safely go back to Goa and deal with the charges. They argued that other properties they own in Goa have already been torn down by officials. This action, they claimed, proves that the authorities are being unfair and that their personal safety is truly at risk in the coastal state.
However, the Delhi court firmly rejected their urgent request for protection. The judge noted that the crime they are accused of, which includes murder and causing death by neglect, is very serious. The court also pointed out that the brothers had lied about when they planned their flight to Thailand. The Luthra brothers are now detained in Thailand and are expected to be sent back to India soon to face the serious charges filed by the Goa police.
