Only postgraduate medical training and teaching experience obtained in departments or units officially recognised and approved by the NMC will be considered valid for any faculty position. The regulatory body issued the directive to ensure strict adherence to national standards, meaning experience from unapproved setups will not count for promotions, appointments or any official purpose.

The NMC clarified that all postgraduate medical education and training must comply fully with its latest regulations, specifically the Postgraduate Medical Education Regulations, 2023, and the Medical Institutions (Qualifications of Faculty) Regulations, 2025. Experience accumulated in unrecognised or unapproved departments will be disregarded entirely during evaluations for teaching roles. The announcement reinforces that only NMC-approved infrastructure and programmes qualify candidates for regulatory recognition, preventing any dilution of academic standards in medical institutions.
