Ranit Kr. Singh , Bhopal - A Deputy Collector from Madhya Pradesh’s Morena district was arrested on Wednesday night for allegedly sexually exploiting a woman for over a year under the false promise of marriage. The accused, who had been previously suspended in September 2025 following misconduct allegations involving women, was taken into custody by the Civil Lines police following a formal complaint. City Superintendent of Police Deepali Chandoriya confirmed that a mandatory medical examination was conducted post-arrest, and the senior revenue official is scheduled to be produced in court today.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), the victim first connected with the official on Facebook, which eventually led to phone conversations and a marriage proposal. Civil Lines Station House Officer Udaybhan Yadav stated that the alleged exploitation began on March 30, 2025, when the official drove the woman to a rest house in Morena and established physical relations against her wishes. The survivor stated that the abuse continued until June 3, 2026, spanning multiple locations including a flat in Gwalior and a government residence in Sabalgarh, where the accused was then posted as a Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM).
The case was officially registered on Wednesday under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which penalizes sexual intercourse through deceitful means or false promises of marriage. In her complaint, the woman further revealed that the relationship soured when the official explicitly refused to marry her. He also allegedly threatened to eliminate her family if she approached law enforcement. Senior police officials confirmed that further legal proceedings and investigative steps are actively underway.
