Monsoon Mayhem Brings Delhi NCR to a Halt

Ananya Lohia , Delhi - Relentless overnight rain brought normal life to a halt across Delhi-NCR on Thursday, with widespread waterlogging, massive traffic jams and disrupted movement. The India Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for Delhi, warning of more intense rainfall through the day.

Several parts of Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad and Gurugram witnessed continuous heavy showers, inundating roads and slowing traffic across major routes. In Gurugram, severe waterlogging forced many private companies to allow employees to work from home, while civic agencies were deployed to clear flooded roads and regulate traffic. The IMD warned of extremely heavy rainfall over Delhi, while surrounding NCR regions remain under an orange alert.

Weather experts have predicted that eastern parts of Delhi-NCR, including Noida and Ghaziabad, could receive exceptionally heavy rainfall over the next 24 hours, increasing the risk of flooding and traffic disruptions. Authorities have advised residents to avoid unnecessary travel, remain alert for waterlogging, and follow official weather updates as the monsoon system continues to impact the region.

With heavy rain expected to continue over the next few days, emergency teams remain on high alert as authorities work to minimise disruptions and ensure public safety across Delhi-NCR.
