Meta Platforms has officially launched a new paid subscription service called Instagram Plus for Instagram as part of its broader rollout of “Plus” plans across its major apps.
New subscription offers users additional premium features on Instagram, including extended story tools, enhanced audience insights, and more customization options for profiles. The service is part of Meta’s strategy to introduce paid tiers across its platforms while keeping core features free for all users.
The Instagram Plus plan is reportedly priced around $3.99 per month, though pricing may vary by region as the rollout continues globally. Alongside Instagram, Meta is also introducing similar subscription models for Facebook and WhatsApp under the “Plus” branding.
The new features are focused on improving user engagement, such as story interaction insights, advanced reactions, and expanded content visibility tools. However, the basic Instagram experience, including posting, messaging, and browsing, remains unchanged and free.
Tech analysts suggest this move is part of Meta’s shift toward diversifying revenue beyond advertising, especially as competition increases in the social media space and investment in AI tools grows.
Meta has confirmed that the rollout is currently being tested in select regions and will expand gradually based on user feedback.
