Local officials explained that the airstrip was the only place large enough to handle the massive crowd safely without causing a traffic jam in the city. One official commented on the situation by saying, "The number of applicants was much higher than expected, so we had to use the airstrip for better management." He also noted that they tried their best to keep things organized despite the challenging conditions and the heat.
