Desk Correspondent , Bhubaneshwar - A shocking scene unfolded in Odisha as over 8,000 candidates gathered to compete for fewer than 200 Home Guard posts. The local administration decided to hold the physical and written exams right on an open airstrip to accommodate the huge number of people. Videos of thousands of young men and women sitting in long rows on the hot tarmac have quickly gone viral on social media. Many people are finding it hard to believe that such a large-scale recruitment test was conducted in such an unusual outdoor setting.

The viral clips show the desperate struggle for government jobs as candidates waited for hours under the open sky. Local officials explained that the airstrip was the only place large enough to handle the massive crowd safely without causing a traffic jam in the city. One official commented on the situation by saying, "The number of applicants was much higher than expected, so we had to use the airstrip for better management." He also noted that they tried their best to keep things organized despite the challenging conditions and the heat.

Many citizens have expressed concern over the lack of proper facilities like shade and seating for the thousands of job seekers. While the exam was completed without any major accidents, the images of people sitting on the ground have sparked a debate about unemployment. One candidate shared their experience by saying, "It was very difficult to focus on the exam while sitting on the open ground, but we need these jobs." This event has highlighted the high demand for government work and the lengths to which young people will go to secure a stable future.
