Ananya Lohia , Mumbai - After a slow start at the box office, Main Vaapas Aaunga is witnessing a strong turnaround in its second week, with exhibitors increasing the number of shows following growing audience demand and positive word-of-mouth. The Imtiaz Ali-directed romantic drama opened to modest collections despite receiving positive reviews. However, the film has steadily gained momentum over the past week, prompting major cinema chains to add more screenings across several markets.

Trade figures indicate a significant rise in collections during the film's second weekend. After earning ₹3 crore net on its opening Friday and Saturday, the film collected ₹6.25 crore net over the same period a week later. It also recorded a sharp jump in earnings on its second Saturday, reflecting growing audience interest. The film's resurgence comes despite facing competition from new releases in theatres.

Industry observers attribute the growth to strong word-of-mouth, appreciation for Imtiaz Ali's storytelling, acclaimed performances by Naseeruddin Shah and Diljit Dosanjh, and AR Rahman's music. Set against the backdrop of Partition and spanning two generations, Main Vaapas Aaunga features Diljit Dosanjh, Naseeruddin Shah, Sharvari and Vedang Raina in key roles.

With collections rising and additional shows being added, Main Vaapas Aaunga has emerged as one of the rare films to witness substantial growth after its opening week, strengthening its prospects for a successful theatrical run.
