A terrible road accident in the remote Anjaw district of Arunachal Pradesh has resulted in the deaths of at least 18 people. The tragedy occurred late on Monday night when a minitruck, carrying 22 laborers from Tinsukia, fell off a cliff. The vehicle plunged nearly 200 meters into a deep, steep gorge on the high-altitude Hayuliang-Chaglagam Road. Due to the challenging mountain terrain and the hidden location of the wreckage, the disaster remained completely unknown to the public for two days.

The accident was finally exposed thanks to a single, courageous survivor. Despite suffering severe head and facial injuries from the fall, this man managed a miraculous escape. He struggled out of the deep gorge and spent two full days walking through the difficult, isolated landscape. Eventually, he reached a nearby military-run camp, where he alerted authorities about the horrific crash and the people trapped.
The brave survivor’s statement was crucial, helping the police quickly find the exact spot of the accident. Rescue teams, including the Indian Army and local police, immediately launched a complex search operation. They eventually located the truck, hidden by thick trees and bushes, confirming that 18 people had died. The discovery has brought a sad close to the two-day mystery, which highlights the dangers of travel in the remote border area.
