A 36-year-old liquor tavern owner, Amit Kumar was shot dead in Sahnewal, Ludhiana district, following an argument over a bill of ₹120.According to police, three men on a motorcycle visited Amit’s tavern, ordered snacks and liquor, and were presented with the small bill. When they were asked to pay, they began abusing the waiter and refused to settle the amount.
Amit, who owned the tavern and was the brother of Ludhiana district Congress leader Anuj Kumar, confronted the trio. In response, one of the assailants pulled out a gun and shot Amit in the chest at close range. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared him dead upon arrival. The attack occurred on Monday night. The assailants fled immediately after the shooting. Amit is survived by his wife and two children.
