Ananya Lohia , Kedarnath - Relentless rainfall in Uttarakhand has disrupted normal life, with a landslide blocking the Kedarnath Highway near Sonprayag and affecting the ongoing Char Dham Yatra. Authorities have launched restoration work while urging pilgrims to remain cautious.

The landslide struck the Munkatiya stretch near Gaurikund in Rudraprayag district, prompting officials to deploy JCB machines to clear debris and restore traffic. Despite the temporary blockage, the Kedarnath Yatra is continuing under close supervision, with disaster response teams and sector officers stationed along the route to assist pilgrims.

Heavy rain has also impacted neighbouring Tehri Garhwal district, where traffic on the Nainbagh route was suspended after debris fell near Mussoorie Bend. Rescue teams are working to reopen the roads, while authorities have advised travellers to avoid unnecessary journeys and follow official weather and traffic advisories.

With more rainfall expected, the Uttarakhand administration has intensified monitoring across vulnerable areas to ensure the safety of pilgrims and residents and restore normal traffic at the earliest.
