Ananya Lohia , Pune - The investigation into the alleged murder of 25-year-old Pune realtor Ketan Agarwal has taken a fresh turn after police questioned a youth from Maharashtra's Beed district over suspicion that he was aware of the alleged murder plot allegedly hatched by Siya Goyal and her alleged boyfriend, Chetan Chaudhary.
According to investigators, the youth is a former classmate of Chaudhary and had been in regular contact with him since the last week of May. Police suspect the accused discussed their alleged plan to kill Ketan with him and even invited him to accompany them on the June 18 trek to Lohagad Fort, where Ketan allegedly died after falling into a gorge. The youth reportedly declined the invitation and advised the duo against carrying out the act, a claim that police are now verifying.
Investigators are examining call detail records, digital chats and other electronic evidence to establish the sequence of events and determine whether the youth had any role in the alleged conspiracy. Meanwhile, a Pune court remanded Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary to 14 days of judicial custody until July 16 after rejecting the prosecution's plea for extended police custody. The court also declined the police request to conduct polygraph tests on the accused after the defence opposed the move, stating such tests cannot be conducted without the consent of the accused.
Police said the investigation is still at a primary stage, and further action will depend on the analysis of digital evidence as they continue to probe the motive and circumstances surrounding Ketan Agarwal's death.
