Ananya Lohia , Pune - The investigation into the suspected murder of Pune-based realtor Ketan Agarwal has revealed that accused Siya Goyal’s brother, Sahil Goyal, was aware of her relationship with co-accused Chetan Chaudhary and had advised her to end it. Ketan died after falling from Lohagad Fort on June 18, and police are treating the case as a suspected murder.

According to investigators, Sahil told police that he had learnt about Siya and Chetan’s relationship several months ago and urged his sister to end it as she was already engaged to Ketan. Police said Sahil and Chetan became acquainted through cricket in 2024, following which Chetan befriended Siya. The probe has gathered pace with police recording statements of 10 people and reconstructing the events at Lohagad Fort with family members of both the accused and the victim.

Investigators said Siya and Chetan allegedly continued their relationship despite wedding preparations. During questioning, both accused have reportedly blamed each other for Ketan’s death, prompting police to rely on forensic evidence, digital records and witness statements. Police are also examining claims that Siya was reluctant to marry Ketan after learning he wore a hair patch due to baldness. Meanwhile, investigators suspect the accused deleted phone chats and cleared recycle bins before and after the incident. Their devices have been sent for forensic analysis to recover the deleted data.

Amid the ongoing investigation, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has assured Ketan’s family of full support, approved a fast-track court for the case and agreed to appoint senior advocate Ujjwal Nikam as special public prosecutor.
