Ananya Lohia , New Delhi - Aam Aadmi Party national convener Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday threw his weight behind activist Sonam Wangchuk's ongoing hunger strike, demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the alleged NEET-UG 2026 examination irregularities.
Addressing protesters at Jantar Mantar, Kejriwal urged the Centre to listen to the voices of students and Sonam Wangchuk, warning that ignoring the movement could have political consequences. He also suggested that Prime Minister Narendra Modi replace Dharmendra Pradhan with Sonam Wangchuk as the Union Education Minister, praising the Ladakh-based education reformer's contribution to the education sector.
Meanwhile, the Delhi High Court directed authorities to monitor Wangchuk's health on a daily basis and provide immediate medical assistance whenever required. As Wangchuk's protest gathers political support and legal attention, pressure continues to mount on the Centre to respond to the protesters' demands while ensuring the activist's health and safety.
Mukesh Khanna’s call to replace “Jana Gana Mana” with “Vande Mataram” has sparked debate over India’s national symbols and the history behind them.
PM Modi warned against what he called “dimaagi Naxals,” urging their identification and isolation, while the Congress criticised the remarks as politically motivated.
