Srinagar, August 31, 2025 – Traders and producers in Kashmir have expressed deep concern over the potential loss of a market they describe as “irreplaceable,” warning it could severely impact the region’s economy.

According to local business leaders, restrictions and disruptions in traditional trade routes have created uncertainty for handicrafts, horticulture, and other sectors that rely heavily on exports. The market in question has historically served as a lifeline for Kashmiri products, sustaining thousands of livelihoods across the valley.

Several industry representatives said the absence of this market would shrink opportunities for artisans, fruit growers, and small traders. “It is not just about money; it is about identity and survival,” one trader remarked.
