Ananya Lohia , Delhi - A major controversy has rocked Karnataka after Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot suspended Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC). Chairman Shivashankarappa S. Sahukar and recommended a Supreme Court inquiry into allegations of misconduct in a recruitment process.

The Governor's Secretariat alleged that Sahukar failed to recuse himself from a KPSC recruitment process in which his two daughters were applicants. He is accused of misusing his position and concealing a conflict of interest, while one of his daughters allegedly availed OBC reservation benefits using an income certificate that is now under scrutiny.

Invoking Article 317(1) of the Constitution, the Governor recommended a Supreme Court inquiry and suspended Sahukar pending the investigation. The senior-most KPSC member has been asked to take over as chairman to ensure the commission's functioning and maintain the integrity of the recruitment process.

The unprecedented action has sparked a major political and administrative controversy, with the inquiry expected to determine the veracity of the allegations and uphold transparency in public recruitment.
