A Delhi High Court judge has chosen not to hear a major case filed by the airline IndiGo. Justice Shail Jain stepped aside from the case because of a possible conflict of interest. The reason is that the judge's son works as a pilot for IndiGo, the very company that filed the lawsuit. In legal terms, this act of stepping away is called a "recusal." The case will now be sent to a new panel of judges, likely next week, to ensure fairness and full honesty in the legal process.

IndiGo has gone to court seeking a massive refund of over ₹900 crore. This huge amount is related to customs duty that the airline paid on aircraft engines and other parts. The airline had sent these items abroad for repair and then brought them back into India. IndiGo argues that it was wrongly made to pay the import tax again, even after already paying other related taxes for the repair service. The airline claims that customs officials made them pay this tax to get their aircraft parts cleared quickly.
The airline's lawyer stated that an earlier ruling had found it wrong to charge customs duty again on these re-imported parts. IndiGo was forced to pay the money, and now customs officials are refusing to return the large sum without extra paperwork. This legal fight comes when IndiGo is already facing big problems with many flight cancellations and a shortage of pilots. This money fight adds to the challenges the airline is dealing with right now.
