JPMorgan to hire 1,000 people for India GCCs

Swapna Kumbar , Bengaluru - JPMorgan plans to hire about 1,000 technology professionals for its India global capability centres, even as the bank says AI is reducing staffing needs in some areas. The new hiring drive will focus on cloud architecture, cybersecurity, and AI data pipelines.

The roles are expected to be highly technical, with candidates undergoing HackerRank-based assessments that test coding, data structures, algorithms, and system architecture. Sources cited in the report say the bank wants specialists who can support its expanding technology operations in India. The move comes despite JPMorgan’s own comments that automation and AI have cut staffing requirements by 30% to 40% in some parts of the bank. That makes the hiring significant: it suggests the lender is still increasing its India tech footprint, but with a sharper focus on advanced engineering and security skills.

JPMorgan’s hiring push shows India remains central to its technology strategy, especially for higher-end digital and security work. At the same time, the mix of AI-driven efficiency and targeted recruitment reflects how the bank is reshaping its workforce for the next phase of growth.
