Ananya Lohia , Chennai - H Vinoth's Jana Nayagan, starring Vijay, is creating massive buzz ahead of its July 23 release. Despite a seven-month delay, advance bookings have opened to an overwhelming response, with premium tickets in Bengaluru selling for as much as Rs 2,500.
Advance bookings have begun in several cities, including Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Delhi and parts of Kerala. While ticket prices for the Tamil version range between Rs 100 and Rs 800 in most regions, Bengaluru has emerged as the most expensive market. Premium recliner seats at Cinepolis Nexus Shantiniketan are priced at Rs 2,500, while several premiere shows costing between Rs 800 and Rs 1,000 have already sold out.
In contrast, Chennai has capped ticket prices at Rs 190, with the lowest ticket available for Rs 54, following the state's long-standing policy of preventing steep price hikes for early shows. Kamala Cinemas announced that it sold over 10,000 tickets within minutes of bookings opening. Overseas demand has also been strong, with UK distributor Ahimsa Entertainment claiming thousands of tickets were sold within an hour of bookings opening.
Directed by H Vinoth and produced by KVN Productions, Jana Nayagan stars Vijay, Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol and Mamitha Baiju in key roles. The film, considered Vijay's final movie before his full-time political career, is set to hit theatres on July 23 after receiving CBFC clearance with an A certificate.
