Iran Targets US Bases, F-35 Facilities After American Strikes

Swapna Kumbar , Bengaluru - West Asia witnessed a sharp escalation in tensions after Iran launched retaliatory attacks on U.S. military assets across the Gulf following American airstrikes on Iranian military infrastructure. The strikes came after Washington targeted Iranian radar and air-defense systems in response to the downing of a U.S. Apache helicopter near the Strait of Hormuz, pushing the region closer to a broader confrontation.

According to Iranian state media and military statements, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched missiles and drones at multiple U.S. facilities in the region, including bases in Jordan, Kuwait, and Bahrain. Iran claimed that targets included aircraft facilities and hangars used by advanced F-35 fighter jets, as well as command and operational centers supporting U.S. military activities. Regional air-defense systems were activated, and several incoming missiles and drones were reportedly intercepted before reaching their intended targets. No major casualties have been officially reported so far.

The retaliation followed U.S. strikes against Iranian radar and air-defense installations near the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi accused Washington of deliberately testing Tehran's resolve and warned that Iran would not tolerate further military action. "Our powerful armed forces will leave no attack or threat unanswered," he said, urging foreign military forces to leave the region if they wished to remain safe. The latest exchange has raised concerns that the fragile ceasefire and diplomatic efforts pursued in recent months could unravel, threatening stability in one of the world's most strategically important energy corridors.

The latest military exchange marks one of the most serious escalations between Iran and the United States in recent months. With both sides maintaining a firm stance and regional tensions rising, international attention is now focused on whether diplomatic efforts can prevent the crisis from expanding into a wider conflict that could impact global energy markets and regional security.
