Ananya Lohia , New Delhi - Team India have suffered a major setback ahead of the third and final ODI against England, with all-rounder Washington Sundar ruled out due to a hamstring injury. The BCCI has named Harsh Dubey as his replacement for the series decider at Lord's.
The BCCI confirmed that Sundar sustained a right hamstring injury during the second ODI in Cardiff and will now undergo scans and consult a specialist. The all-rounder was seen receiving treatment on the field before walking off in visible discomfort after scoring just two runs. India batting coach Sitanshu Kotak later described the injury as a "bad" hamstring issue.
Sundar had starred in India's opening ODI victory with an unbeaten half-century, but his absence now comes at a crucial stage with the three-match series locked at 1-1. Harsh Dubey has been drafted into the squad as India prepare for the winner-takes-all clash at the iconic Lord's Cricket Ground.
With the series on the line, India will have to cope without one of their key all-rounders. All eyes will now be on Harsh Dubey as the visitors aim to overcome the setback and seal the ODI series against England.
