A shocking incident in San Francisco has shaken the tech community: Indian-American entrepreneur Vishnu Hari, co-founder of AI startup Ego, was violently attacked and left with severe brain injury.  On January 18, Hari was found bleeding after an assailant struck him from behind with a metal pipe. He was taken to the ICU, where he spent two weeks recovering from a traumatic brain injury.

In posts following the attack, Hari revealed that he now suffers partial blindness in his right eye and hearing loss in his left ear. The attacker also allegedly robbed him of jewelry and piercings, though his phone and wallet were untouched.

Adding to the drama, Hari’s co-founder Peggy Wang recently announced she was stepping away from Ego, citing divergent visions for the company’s future.  She explained that she plans to start her own venture, already accepted into the Y Combinator bootcamp.
