India Receives CWG Flag as Ahmedabad Gears Up for 2030 Games

Ananya Lohia , New Delhi - The 2026 Commonwealth Games concluded in Glasgow with India officially receiving the Commonwealth Games flag and baton, marking the handover to Ahmedabad, host of the 2030 centenary edition.

Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra, Indian Olympic Association president PT Usha and Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi accepted the flag during a colourful closing ceremony. The event featured a vibrant cultural showcase celebrating India's heritage, with performances by Manushi Chhillar, Shankar Mahadevan and the Shiamak Davar Dance Studio.

India ended the Glasgow Games with 39 medals, including 13 gold, 17 silver and nine bronze, finishing fourth in the medals table. Boxing delivered a record-breaking haul of seven gold medals, while athletics, weightlifting, judo and para sports also produced historic performances.

With the flag now in India's hands, Ahmedabad begins its journey towards hosting the landmark 2030 Commonwealth Games.
